“When we first signed to Fueled By Ramen in late 2004, I had no idea what I was getting into. I was just stoked that we were signing to the same label as Fall Out Boy. That year, you couldn’t get away from ‘Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy’ if you lived under a rock and a dirt pile. Fast forward to 2005 and we’re living in Orlando, Florida, recording our debut album ‘All We Know Is Falling’. John Janick drove down to see us and came armed with Fall Out Boy’s ‘From Under the Cork Tree’ demos. we all jumped in his car to get a first listen, smiling from ear to ear. I mean, what other 16 year olds could’ve said that? We were all on the forefront of this new emo boom that was about to happen and FBR was the monster truck we were riding in on. The label became quickly known for churning out young bands with shiny hair and catchy tunes about girls (or in our case, catchy tunes about boys). I have to say in all honesty I was just as confused by all our shiny, angular hairdos as the rest of the world was. i’ve been looking into going into animation as an alternative to teaching. i was just wondering if any tumblrites had anything to say or any advice to give about steps i can take/things i can do to work toward making animation my career (also wondering what you think about CalArts because that is like my dream college.) t’would delight me so very much :D message me anybody, anybody at all?
